Great translation

I like this translation because it is easy to read and understand without straying from the Greek. A lot of translations don't transition from one thought to the next very well. This translation doesn't have that problem. I found myself understanding certain passages for the first time!

Oh boy, another translation of the New Testament!

You all should check the translator's web site [...]
See there the video clip of an interview of him, where he says

... I did this work 'because God told me to do.'

Well, whenever we hear someone says 'God told me to do', we wonder whether it really means the opposite. ;-O

Instead of buying the print book (which I gave two stars), save your hard earned money to read this kindle edition. With Amazon prime account, you may rent it read even free. ;-)

Check all the reviews (just google it!) and, most importantly, compare with numerous English translations available (mostly free. I use a free program from [...] with many bible modules available on [...] to see what new usefulness he brings from his limited capacity in the field linguistic-literary as well as theological field - if any.

Starting with the first verse of the New Testament, for example, 'This is a record of ancestry of ...' Like most translations he misunderstand this very first verse. The verse is not saying the genealogy book of Him. The verses 2 to 16 (in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 1) are a family lineage of Joseph, not Jesus. The first verse is really the title of Gospel according to Matthew:
....'This is that which has been written down of the life history of Jesus Christ ...'

About the Author
Ian Loader is Professor of Criminology and Director of the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford. He is the author of Policing and the Condition of England (with A. Mulcahy, 2003) and Crime and Social Change in Middle England (with E. Girling and R. Sparks, 2000) and an editor of the British Journal of Criminology. Ian is a leading authority on contemporary transformations in policing and security.

Neil Walker is Professor of European Law in the Department of Law at the European University Institute, Florence. He has made well-known contributions to questions of transnational constitutional theory as well as to the study of policing and security. He has recently edited Europe's Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (2004) and Relocating Sovereignty (2006).

Worst Business Text Ever

As a student this was one of the most difficult books to get through. I used this book in my senior capstone course for administration. It addressed many topics that were covered in prior classes, I learned very little from reading the book as I had much of the information pounded into my head in the numerous classes prior to my capstone. This book is very wordy and exhaustive to the point that torture may be a better option than reading. Relevant but hard to read and very few pictures.

The right textbook and the right price!

I needed this to complete a college course. The college bookstore was wanting $92.00/new for this in an e-book and I found it here for 63% less in hard copy! The condition was listed as "Good" but it arrived in "Like New" with all pages, no markings or notations on any of the pages.
I personally much prefer a hard copy/printed book to an e-book. It's easier to go right to the page needed and find the information faster than waiting for pages to load.

a much needed contribution to the field

Human Biology for Social Workers nicely fits CSWE's mandate to include biological content in the human behavior courses. I use this book for reference quite a bit. It is thorough and doesn't shirk from presenting controversy. The social work perspective means this book is tailored for the needs of emerging professionals.

Contains some useful information, but mostly doesn't.

This text starts off well, providing a good overview of science in general and biology in particular as it can relate to social work practice, but ends up being disjointed and poorly edited. The authors consistently present information that's plain unnecessary to any student reading this book. 10 pages are dedicated to every person and moment in the history of the Human Genome Project, while only 3 or 4 total paragraphs are dedicated to explaining what DNA is and how it operates on a molecular scale. Also take Chapter 4, which contains 14 solid pages of expected developmental milestones in the first year of an infant's life. While this information is useful, it's useful to students of early childhood development, not students in a brief introductory class. With regards to the formatting, the citations are frequently redundant to the point of distraction, sometimes with 4 or more identical citations in as many sentences, while headings and respective subheadings don't always flow well or make sense in the order they're presented. Overall, I think a student would be better served with a standard introductory text to human biology for non-science majors.

By the way, this book, a human biology book, contains more sentences about the play "Puppetry of the Penis" than about the human urinary system.
